Quality planning

Quality and cold-chain decisions that follow the product

Fresh flowers do not share one universal temperature, maturity or packing rule. The working specification must match the species, supplied form, route, transit time and buyer’s arrival standard.

01

Before packing

Confirm variety, colour, stem or spike length, head size where relevant, maturity stage, foliage condition, defect tolerance and count. Record the inspection method and sampling basis.

02

Conditioning and temperature

Agree hydration or dry-handling method, pre-cooling expectation, target product temperature where applicable and the point at which readings are taken. Unverified “cold-chain uptime” percentages are not published.

03

Protection and carton loading

Select sleeves, liners, cushioning, moisture control, ventilation and orientation for the product. Carton count and gross weight must fit the carrier and handling plan.

04

Evidence and handovers

Use timestamped photographs, packing records, temperature evidence or inspection notes when contracted. Define responsibility at collection, terminal acceptance, carrier handover and destination clearance.

05

Arrival checks

Photograph unopened cartons, labels, internal packing and affected product promptly. Keep airway bill and temperature evidence where available, and follow the written notification window in the accepted terms.
