Planning fresh flower shipments from India to the UK

For England, Scotland and Wales, importers should use current GOV.UK and plant-health authority guidance to identify the commodity risk category, registration, phytosanitary, notification and inspection steps.

01

Buyer and product fit

Wholesale florists, distributors, event suppliers and specialist buyers should provide botanical identity, product form, quantity, arrival condition, preferred airport and receiving schedule. Northern Ireland follows separate guidance.

02

Plant-health planning

The importer should determine the current risk category and whether registration, a phytosanitary certificate, pre-notification, inspection or fees apply. Required certificate wording should be supplied before dispatch.

03

Packing and arrival

Agree carton dimensions, labels, count and protection with the airline and buyer. Build enough inspection and clearance time into the receiving plan for a perishable consignment.

04

Importer checklist

Confirm GB importer registration where applicable, notification account, designated point of entry, broker, certificate requirements, customs details, receiving availability and rejected-consignment plan.
